Newton Police to Host Rape Aggression Defense Classes
R.A.D. includes a combination of classroom instruction and dynamic hands-on training, where participants learn self-defense tactics.

NEWTON, MA – The Newton Police Department will soon offer free Rape Aggression Defense courses that teach basic self-defense techniques for women.
The course is a 12-hour basic physical defense course taught by certified instructors from the Newton Police Department. Participants will learn self-defense tactics and techniques to use in real-life scenarios. The classes are open to women ages 15 or older.
Participants must be 15 by the first day of class on May 9 or get permission from Lt. Billy Spalding. The program runs May 9, 16 and 23 from 5-9 p.m. Attendance at all three classes is mandatory.

The classes will be held at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street in Newton. Registration is required and selection is made on a first come, first serve basis.
