Newton Police: Intruder Sleeps on Couch, Drinks Beer, Eats Cookies and Uses Qtips

Incidents, June 24

  • Police responded to Central Street for a report of a past breaking and entering into a motor vehicle. A woman stated that two of her vehicles were broken into between 8 p.m. on June 22 and 3:30 p.m. on June 24. Both were left unlocked in the driveway. She noticed that the glove compartment was open and a laptop bag was open. Also, around $7 in coins were missing, and a car charger.
  • Police responded to North Gate Parkway for a report of past breaking and entering to the residence. Sometime between 3:30 p.m.on June 23 and 3:50 p.m. the next day, someone broke in. Police went upstairs and through the living room. The living room couch had a blanket on it and the fusions were offset. Next to the couch, there was a beer can sitting on the coffee table, indicating that someone had slept on the couch, and drank a can of beer from the refrigerator. In the kitchen, there were used Qtips on the counter, and an open package of cookies. None of these items belonged to the home owner.

June 25

  • Police responded to Stearns Park, where a teenager was who had a warrant out for his arrest for threatening to commit a crime. A 14-year-old male from Newton was arrested.
