Newton Police Issue Level 3 Sex Offender Notification

On Monday, a community notification was issued for John Patrick Bowen.

NEWTON, MA – The Newton Police Department has notified residents of a sex offender that lives in the area.

Police issued a Level 3 sex offender community notification on Monday for John Patrick Bowen, who lives in the 300 block of Grove Street.

Bowen was convicted of assault with intent to rape in 1988 and open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior in 2001.

While the information is public, any person who uses sex offender registration information to threaten to commit a crime may be punished by a fine of not more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than six months. Any person who uses this information to harass an individual may be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000 or by imprisonment of not more than 2 1/2 years.
