Newton Police Log: Alleged Drug Dealer Had Stolen Gun; Stolen Jetta; Man Steals Women's Coat from J. Crew

Mon., Nov. 24

  • A woman on Ellis Street said someone stole her 2010 black Volkswagen Jetta.
  • Someone vandalized a vehicle at Brezniak Rodman funeral home.
  • A man stole a black women’s puffer coat from J. Crew on Boylston Street.
  • A woman said someone stole pulls from her home when she held an open house trying to sell it.
  • A man said someone slashed the tires on his Subaru Forester, which was parked in a lot on Langley Road.
  • Someone sprayed brown paint on a stone wall at a Beaconwood Road home.
  • Anthony Lawson, 21, of Waltham, was charged with having marijuana and a stolen handgun in his vehicle. At about 9 p.m., Lawson was pulled over by a police officer after he was in a vehicle that was allegedly going 40 mph in a 30 mph zone on Cherry Street. The officer said he smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Upon searching the car, the officer said he found four ball-sized amounts of marijuana, a scale, and a stolen handgun—which was reported stolen in Leicester. A 21-year-old woman was also in the car.
