Newton Police Log: Arsonist Fails to Light Jeep on Fire; Drug Bust; Stolen Scooter

Wed., Sept. 3
- A woman on Linder Terrace said someone stole two bicycles from her front porch.
- Jason Herrera, 24, of Waltham, was charged with drug possession, operating after suspension, a brake light violation, and having no registration following a traffic stop in the Dearborn Street area.
- A scooter was stolen on Boylston Street.
- A man came in the police station and said someone tried to light his Jeep on fire on Lexington Street. When he went out to the vehicle in the morning, he noticed the gas cap was off and a burnt piece of paper stuffed inside.
