Newton Police Log: Driver Charged with Second OUI; Man Tries to Steal Vodka from Waban Market; Woman Charged with Stealing Coats, Scarves from Bloomingdale's

Fri., Dec. 5

  • Staff at Bloomingdale’s said a man stole two trays of merchandise.
  • Graffiti was reported on a fence on Washington Street.

Sat., Dec. 6

  • Staff at the Waban Market said a man stole a $20 bottle of vodka. Police responded to the scene and spoke to the 52-year-old man; staff declined to press charges.
  • Anne Diafario, 53, of Westwood, was charged with stealing two Burberry coats and four Burberry scarves from Bloomingdale’s.
  • Eswin Lopez-Rodas, 44, of Waltham, was charged with OUI (second offense), unlicensed driving, and a lane violation.
  • A burglary was reported on Nevada Street. Thieves entered a home through an unlocked window and stole jewelry.
