Newton Police Log: Thief Demands Drugs for Stolen iPhone, Recycling Barrel Stolen, Credit Card Fraud at Bloomingdales
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Thur., Sept. 11
- A man reported someone stole his iPhone and credit cards from his work truck on Wolcott Street. The man said he called the thief, who said he would return the phone for “$30 or drugs.” The pair met up and the thief said if he paid $100 he would return the credit cards, too. The man said the thief tried to grab the money and flee, but the iPhone fell out and the man was able to retrieve it.
Fri., Sept. 12
- A woman on Green Street said someone store her recycling barrel.
- A woman on Crescent Avenue said someone broke into her sport utility vehicle and stole her wallet, which had a few hundreds dollars in it.
- A woman on Arlington Street said someone smashed the window of her car.
- Darron Curran, 25, of Newton, was arrested on a warrant for operating a vehicle after suspension, among other charges.
- Steven Denis, 34; Rosemarie Jimenez-Torres, 20; and Eric Williams, 42, all of Wyandanch, N.Y. were all charged with credit card fraud for allegedly trying to purchase merchandise at the Bloomingdales at the Chestnut Hill Mall.

- A woman reported someone smashed her car window with a softball on Islington Street and stole her wallet.
Sun., Sept. 14
- A woman reported her keys were stolen from Highlander Laundry on Waltham Street.
