  • Newton officers responded to the area of Waltham Street for a report of a stolen bicycle. Dispatch updated officers that there were four teenagers walking away from a residence with a blue bike. The teenagers were described as two Hispanic males, as well as two African American males. Units said that the owner of the bicycle followed the teens and was confronting one of them near the community center on Waltham Street, after he had gotten a call from a friend saying the bike was being stolen. He saw his blue Cannondale touring bike missing from his front porch. He and his friend got into a vehicle and headed down Waltham Street in an attempt to find the suspects. When he got close to the community center, he saw an African American male riding his bike along with three other males. He confronted the male, who gave him his bike back. The male on the bike was wearing a black hoodie with a backpack with green straps. Officers found four males that fit the description in front of the Dunkin Donuts in West Newton Square. The teenagers were identified and a hearing will be requested. One male, 15, is from Everett, and another, 16, is from Revere.
  • Police were sent to Lexington Street for a past breaking and entering to cars. A resident said when he came out to his car in the morning, he noticed change on the ground. In his car, a 2008 Merz, he noticed his change cup was gone. He estimates it had around $1 in the cup. He then went and checked his two other cars, and found that each of them had been gone through and are missing items, as well. The 2010 Merz was missing a pair of sunglasses and some items from the back. From the 2013 Volkswagen, a pair of sunglasses and wallet was taken, as well as various credit cards and money. All three cars were unlocked.
