Newton Police: Man Gets Into Accident, Allegedly Tosses Several Grams of Cocaine and Heroin Out the Window

The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, Aug. 17

  • Police responded to a call reporting vandalism at Blake Street. Police saw a white Ford with a broken rear window. The owner said that the last time he had been to the vehicle was the night before around 9 p.m.
  • Police patrolled the area of 1900 Washington Street and spotted a 2015 Dodge sedan, gray, headed westbound without its headlights on. Police pulled the vehicle over and ran the registration. Wallace Dos Santos, 33, 42 Rock Valley Ave., Everett, was arrested and issued a citation for unlicensed operation, operating without headlights.
  • At 1:30 p.m., police, along with several other units, responded to the intersection of Lewis Street and Newtonville Ave. for an accident. Police spotted the driver of one of the vehicles sitting on the curb behind his car. Several officers and fire personnel were looking in some bushes bordering the street. A sergeant said that the operator was spotted throwing something into the bushes along the road. Police found a soft drink cup, and inside was a rolled up pice of white toilet paper stuffed into the cup along with 34 individual packages containing a white and brown substance believed to be cocaine and heroin. Favionix Hernandez, 25, 4076 Washington St., Roslindale, was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin and drug possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
