Newton Police: Man in Van Scares Woman; Theft at Legal Sea Foods
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, Sept. 11
- Police assisted in arrest, handling two active warrants out of Quincy. Caleb J. Bickford, 31, 81 Highpoint Road, Marstons Mills, was arrested on two warrants.
- Police took a report of a stolen vehicle. A man wished to report his wife’s stolen vehicle from the driveway at 1:30 p.m. that day. The vehicle is a 2005 Mini Cooper convertible, orange with a blue top
- Police responded to Derby Street for a past suspicious incident. A woman said she was approached by a man in a vehicle earlier, and he made her feel uncomfortable. The woman said she was walking down Derby Street around 5 p.m. and as she passed Tolman Street, she was approached by a red car traveling westbound on Derby. The car was an older model red sedan, driven by a middle aged Middle Eastern man with a thick, black beard, black shirt and white turban. The man rolled his window down and began calling out to the woman, asking her if she needed a ride and complimenting her on her looks. The man then asked where she lived, at which point she got scared and ran to her house. The man continued down Derby Street toward Waltham.
- Police responded to 43 Boylston St. (Legal Sea Foods) for a report of a stolen cell phone. At approximately 4:30 p.m., a woman placed her bag along with all other employee’s bags in the back room and when she came back at approximately 7:45 p.m. she observed her iPhone 6 was missing. An employee said that the bags are left in is monitored by the restaurant’s CCTV system and he has already put in a request for corporate for the footage. No other employees reported items missing from their bags.
Incidents, Sept. 12
- Police traveled on Crafts Street heading toward Waltham Street and attention was drawn to a grey Chevrolet Avalanche that was traveling in front of police. The car put its right turn signal on when approaching Morrill Street and failed to take a turn, and then again on Harding Street. Police ran the plates on the car, and it showed the registered driver had a suspended license. Police pulled the car over on Waltham Street at Keyes Street. Ann Marie Elliott, 41, 50 Garden Circle, Waltham, was arrested and charged with operating after suspension. During the booking, police performed an inventory of Elliott’s purse. Inside the purse, police found an orange prescription pill bottle without a label on it. A large amount of three different types of pills were in the bottle. A second bottle was found in the purse. Police found three hard plastic tubes filled with a powdery residue, and also a plastic device used to crush pills, also containing residue. Elliott was also charged with possession of a Class E substance.
- Police were driving southbound on Centre Street in Newton, and stopped for a pedestrian at the crosswalk on the opposite side of the road at the intersection of Pelham Street and Centre Street. As police came to a stop at the marked crosswalk, a white van with Mass. commercial plates traveled northbound on Centre Street and failed to stop for pedestrian. Police pulled the car over. The driver had no license. The van’s plates came back as canceled by the RMV. Everildo Rosales, 34, 18 Highland St., Lynn, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation.
