Newton Police: Public Lewdness, Multiple OUI Arrests
Crime log from Feb. 23-25. All parties have been charged but not convicted.

Tuesday, Feb. 23:
- A woman reported a man allegedly masturbating at her from his car as she was walked southbound on Central Avenue. She said she believed a white Toyota was following her, and when she turned to look at the car she noticed the driverâs arm moving in an up and down motion. She reported the incident upon arriving at the commuter rail station. The driver was described as a black male wearing a winter hat.
- Gordon Trammel, 23, of Waltham was arrested on Washington Street for allegedly masturbating in front of a woman on Adella Avenue. The woman said she was walking her dog when she noticed a man in a light brown car pulled over by the side of the road. She continued to walk towards her house and when she got to the top step she saw that the car had turned around and parked on the street in front of her residence. The man beeped his horn and when the woman looked inside the car, he was allegedly masturbating. She said she then flipped him the bird. Police later pulled over a car matching the womanâs description and identified the driver as Trammel. He was arrested and charged with lewdness and open and gross conduct. His license was also revoked.
- A vehicle stolen out of Watertown was recovered on Pearl Street.
Wednesday, Feb. 24:
- A 19-year-old man was arrested after fleeing the scene of an accident on Albemarle Road. Police responded to reports of a black Jeep Cherokee that had crashed into a retaining wall. The responding officer encountered a man who identified himself as the passenger in the car and told the officer he believed his wrist was broken. Police later found the driver at the rear of Albemarle Road. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and a marked lanes violation.

- Maria Scheele, 21, of Winchester was arrested at the Sunoco on Elliot Street after police responded to reports of a belligerent, intoxicated woman attempting to drive. Police noticed that the front right tire of her black Ford Escape was out, and she was parked at an angle in between the gas pumps and the entrance to the station. Officers attempted to assist her, and she became argumentative when asked if she was drunk. Police say they removed her keys and smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from her body. They noticed that she wasnât wearing shoes, and her socks were soaking wet. She was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.
