Newton Police: Stolen Motorcycle; House Burglaries

The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, Sept. 13

  • Police responded to Capital Street for a past breaking and entering to a vehicle. A resident said that his Ford Transit van was broken into on Friday night/Saturday morning. He said that his vehicle was parked in the driveway and was unlocked. Loose change and a Leatherman multitool was taken from the vehicle.
  • Police responded to 189 Watertown St. for a report of shoplifting. Watertown police had the person stopped on the footbridge on California Street in their town. Police responded to 189 Watertown St., at the CVS, and spoke to the store manager who said that they would not like to press charges. The person admitted to taking several hand lotions. Police took the stolen property and returned them. A no trespassing order was handed to this male, 67, from Boston.

Incidents, Sept. 14

  • Police responded to Aberdeen Street for a report of a stolen motorcycle. The person said that his motorcycle was parked in front of his residence per usual and he last saw it at 8:09 p.m. the night before. He was home all night and didn’t hear anything suspicious or the sound of the motorcycle starting up. However, when he woke up at 9:30 a.m., he noticed it was missing. Both sets of keys were in his possession and he had both helmets at home.
  • Police were dispatched to High Street for a report of a past breaking and entering to a vacant home. It had occurred sometime over the past week. The reporting party said she arrived at the property on Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. to check on it and found that the front door and side doors were broken into. The jambs were splintered at the locks and the side door appeared to have been kicked through.
  • A resident of Boylston Street said that she went out in the morning around 8:45 a.m. and returned home at 12:30 p.m. to discover that her apartment had been broken into. Missing were two Apple iPads and three Apple Macbook Air laptop computers. Whomever broke into the unit had come in through the unlocked bedroom window. They also exited through that same window. Both witnesses said that they were in the children’s playground and saw two black males in their early 20s exit the bedroom window and leave about five minutes before the owner arrived home. They didn’t see the suspects’ faces clearly but described them as two black males, and one was wearing a hoodie and darker grey sweatpants and the other one wore a light colored T-shirt and dark pants.
