Newton Police Warn Of NPD Imposter Phone Scam
Police said they have received reports of residents getting calls from what appears to be a Newton police phone number demanding money.

NEWTON, MA âNewton police are warning residents about reports of a phone scam in which a call appears to be coming from a Newton Police Department number and demands money to clear an outstanding warrant.
Police remind residents never to give out personal information on the phone when receiving an unsolicited call of any kind. Police will not call you and ask you for money or gift cards in a legal matter.
They also ask that anyone who has received this type of call to contact police at 617-796-2100.
