Newton Resident Named Chair of Alliance for Business Leadership

Jeffrey J. Bussgang, former entrepreneur turned venture capitalist, has been elected chair for the 2016-2019 Leadership Team.

NEWTON, MA - Newton's own Jeffrey J. Bussgang has been elected chair for the Leadership Team of the Alliance for Business Leadership.

The ABL announced the decision at the organization's annual Labor Lab meeting. Bussgang, a general partner at Flybridge Capital Partners and senior lecturer at Harvard Business School, will replace outgoing chair Philip J. Edmundson.

In addition to his work at Flybridge, Bussgang has served as President, Chief Operating Officer and Board Director at Upromise, a loyalty marketing and financial services firm that he also co-founded. He was also Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Business Development, Vice President of Worldwide Professional Services and head of Product Management at Open Market, an ecommerce software startup.

Prior to Open Market Bussgang worked at The Boston Consulting Group.

He has authored 12 Harvard Business School cases, as well as the critically-acclaimed book Mastering the VC Game.
