Newton Resident, Waltham Native Loses Battle With Substance Abuse
Memorial services are this week for Daniel Close of West Newton. Services are in Waltham.

Daniel Close of West Newton passed away after a long struggle with substance abuse, Daniel had many attempts with recovery but finally lost his battle Friday, January, 16, 2015. He was 26.
Born in Waltham, May 7, 1988 to his loving and faithful parents Robert Close of West Newton and Margaret (Ryan) Close of Wayland. He was a longtime resident of West Newton and a 2006 graduate of Newton North High School.

Daniel will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind hearted person with a great sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan who loved playing baseball and was a member of several Newton teams. He could also fix any problem you had with a computer.
Besides his parents Daniel is survived by his devoted sister Meaghan DePeter of Wayland, his cherished grandmother Rita L. Close of Framingham and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was the grandson of the late Robert H. Close and the late Lt. James and Phyllis Ryan of Watertown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, Thursday from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Service in celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, Friday at 11 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Daniel’s memory to the Pine Street Inn, 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
