Newton South Makes Top 5 on Boston Magazine's Best Greater Boston High Schools

Newton North also landed at no. 35 on the publication's list of top public high schools in the area.

NEWTON, MA – Good news for parents of Newton teenagers as the start of the school year approaches.

In the recently released list of Boston Magazine's top high schools in Greater Boston, both of the city's high schools ranked in the top 50, with Newton South cracking the 10 best.

The publication crunched data for class size, student-to-teacher ratio, test scores and more to determine the rankings.

Newton South came in at no. 5 on Boston Magazine's list and Newton North ranked no. 35. Here's a look at the publication's top high schools in Greater Boston:

Newton South's statistics included:

  • Enrollment: 1799
  • Average Class Size: 14.4
  • Student-Teacher Ratio: 11.6
  • Percent Graduation Rate: 97.3 percent
  • Percent to College: 84 percent

Newton North's statistics included:

  • Enrollment: 2089
  • Average Class Size: 15.8
  • Student-Teacher Ratio: 11.4
  • Percent Graduation Rate: 96.1 percent
  • Percent to College: 83.7 percent
