Newton Team Selected for Red Bull Flugtag on the Charles

In an homage to Orville and Wilbur, teams will fly their homemade aircrafts over the river August 20.

NEWTON, MA – The Red Bull Flugtag is coming to Boston for the first time this summer, and five Newton men are among the DIY aeronautical engineers hoping to get their homemade plane airborne.

In a complete disregard for gravity that would make Orville and Wilbur proud, teams will launch their aircrafts over the Charles River August 20. Each pilot will attempt to remain airborne without the assistance of motors, rockets, batteries or elastic bands before settling - or crash landing - in the river.

Newton's team, "90's Nostalgia," is comprised of Dave Clearly, Matt Zucosky, Eugene Zeleny, Gary Pivovarov and Lee Panecki, who have taken on the personas of characters from the 90's Cartoon Network staple "Ed, Edd and Eddy."

"90's Nostalgia" describes themselves as, "Five engineers with a plane. Seeking water and glory, with a penchant for living in the past. If we were vegetables, we’d be cute-cumbers."
