Newton Trash Truck Hangs off Road No More After 2 Massive Tow Trucks Take It Away
A trash truck crashed off an embankment, closing part of Cypress Street in Newton earlier today.
NEWTON, MA - A trash truck crashed off a 15-foot high embankment at the end of Langley Road this morning, partially closing Cypress Street. No injures were reported, the Newton Fire Department tweeted out at 10:50 a.m.
It took two 75-ton tow trucks and a few hours to get the truck back up to the street, according to Newton Fire.
Cypress Street is closed between Langley Road and Bowen Elementary as a precaution, the department tweeted. Police are on scene to direct traffic and investigate why the privately owned trash truck veered off the road like it did.

“At this time it’s too early to determine what caused everything,” said Lt. Bruce Apotheker, a spokesperson for the Newton Police Department.
Newton Fire officials said someone called in a special wrecker to help get the trash truck back up on the road.
