Newton-Wellesley Hospital Among Massachusetts' Safest Hospitals

The Leapfrog Group announced its spring 2017 ratings for patient safety.

NEWTON, MA – The latest grades from The Leapfrog Group are in – and Newton-Wellesley Hospital passed patient safety with flying colors. The hospital was one of 31 Massachusetts hospitals to receive an A safety grade from the The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit founded by employers and healthcare providers.

The hospitals were given a letter grade from A through F based on several factors. Of the 60 Bay State hospitals graded, none received a grade lower than a C.

To come up with the grades, Leapfrog looks at medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The goal is to determine what a patient's risk of further injury or infection is if they visit a certain hospital.
