Newton's Boston Ballet School to Relocate, Expand

The new studio will be located in the Newton Nexus complex.

NEWTON, MA – The Boston Ballet School in Newton announced earlier this month it will relocate from its current Washington Street studio to a new location in the Newton Nexus complex on Needham Street.

With the relocation comes an expansion, as the studio will add two studios to its existing five. The new complex will also provide extra parking and surrounding amenities for families.

"We heard the needs of our students and families and are pleased to have the opportunity to respond with a new facility that will be both welcoming and professional. It is important to us to address the holistic experience for our students and families—from studio space and locker rooms to lounge areas and dedicated physical therapy space," said Margaret Tracey, Director of Boston Ballet School, in a formal statement. "The new space will reflect the high quality ballet education we offer at Boston Ballet School. This is an exciting move for us as we look forward to serving the Newton-area community for many years to come."

The Boston Ballet School will officially move next summer and will remain in operation during the 2016-17 school year. In an announcement, representatives from the school said after the site was purchased in January, expansion was considered and it was determined another location would be necessary.

A fundraising campaign has been established to make the move possible.

For more than 30 years, Boston Ballet School has provided the Newton community with a wide range of ballet and dance classes, including the Children's Program, Classical Ballet Program, Adult Program, Summer Dance Program, Adaptive Dance and classes for individuals with disabilities.
