Newton's Gevvie Stone Takes First Place in Olympic Heat
The rower beat out Denmark's Fie Udby Erichsen by less than a second to win the Saturday race.
NEWTON, MA â Rower Gevvie Stone took first place in her race Saturday, beating out the second place finisher by less than a second on her road to victory.
Stone finished the second heat of the women's single sculls with a time of 8:29.67, pulling ahead of Denmark's Fie Udby Erichsen, who finished with 8:30.07.
Stone's time places her in fifth place among rowers in the women's single sculls following the first round of competition.
