Newton's Setti Warren Receives Senate Endorsements from Fellow Mayors

Warren's campaign announced today that eight mayors in Massachusetts have given their support.

Setti Warren's U.S. Senate campaign announced today that eight Massachusetts mayors have endorsed the Newton Mayor for his run to replace U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.

The mayors that endorsed warren include Mayor Robert Dolan of Melrose, Mayor Mary Clare Higgins of Northampton, Mayor Thatcher Kezer of Amesbury, Mayor William Manzi of Methuen, Mayor Joe O’Brien of Worcester, Mayor James Ruberto of Pittsfield, Mayor Michael Tautznik of Easthampton and Mayor Lisa Wong of Fitchburg. 

“I am especially honored to receive the endorsement of so many of my colleagues and pledge that, if elected, I would be the strong federal partner they need,” Mayor Warren said in an e-mailed statement.

The press release included statements from seven of the eight mayors who endorsed Warren.

“I know Mayor Warren well, and his record of results in Newton speaks for itself,” O'Brien said in the statement. “As Chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Committee on Community Development and Housing, he has been a strong advocate for greater partnership between local and federal government and would be the type of dynamic leader that Massachusetts communities need in the United States Senate.”

This weekend, Warren will travel to Baltimore to participate in the U.S. Conference of Mayors annual meeting. The Newton mayor has been involved with the conference for some time now, traveling to Washington D.C. on occasion .
