North Softball Season Ends in North Bracket Final

The TIgers ended a strong season with a 10-2 loss to Central Catholic on Sunday afternoon in Lowell.

A stellar Newton North softball season came to a close on Sunday in Lowell as the Tigers were overmatched by Central Catholic in the North Division 1 title game.

Central Catholic pounced early at Martin Field and piled on as the innings went on, earning the North title with a 10-2 victory.

North earned its spot in the title game as the bracket's No. 10 seed. The locals toppled No. 23 Waltham in the preliminary round before sneaking past No. 7 Methuen with a 2-0 win and edging No. 15 Westford Academy, 4-3, in the quarterfinal round.

In a semifinal thriller the Tigers clipped No. 11 Acton-Boxborough, 11-10, to advance to Sunday's championship game. The loss to Central Catholic ended Newton North's season with a record of 18-7.
