NEWTON, MA — A new city survey shows that about one-fifth of Newton’s sidewalks and 15 percent of Newton’s 5,100 pedestrian curb ramps need replacement or significant repairs, reported The Boston Globe.
The survey, conducted by a Public Works Department Employee, took two years to complete and reviewed the city’s 414 miles of sidewalks.
According to Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, most of the city’s sidewalks are in “excellent to fair condition,” but a handful need work.
