OUI Arrests in Newton This Week

Police made two OUI-related arrests between Saturday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 4.

NEWTON, MA – Newton police have arrested two people so far this week in separate OUI-related incidents, according to police records.

Scott Atkinson, 23, of Needham, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 after allegedly swerving off the road. Police noticed the single-car crash at the intersection of Brookline Street and Rolling Lane. Atkinson's Chevrolet Impala was stuck against a utility pole on the eastbound side of the roadway, the responding officer wrote. He was attempting to reverse to back onto the roadway.

Police noticed tire tracks coming from the westbound side of Brookline Street, crossing over the double yellow lines and then onto the curb, which were visible in the wintry mix on the road. The car had also caused damage to the front yard of a home on Brookline Street. Atkinson was placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence of liquor.

Dione Langan, 51, of Brookline was arrested Tuesday, April 4 after police received reports of a car stuck in the middle of Brandeis Road with a flat tire. The vehicle was creating a backup on Brandeis Road while Newton South High School traffic was attempting to pass.

A bystander told police the driver "needed help," as she was allegedly passed out behind the wheel. Langan was charged with operating under the influence of liquor - second offense, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
