OUI Liquor, Stolen Car, Multiple Vehicle Break-ins: Newton Crime

Thursday, June 23

• Police responded to Westland Avenue for a report of a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. A man told police he parked his vehicle in his driveway, and between 12 and 8 a.m. approximately $10 in change was stolen out of his unlocked car.

• A larceny was reported at Jacob's Auto on Washington Street at 11:46 a.m. The driver of a white Audi sedan reportedly filled up his car with $47.52 of super unleaded and gave the cashier a debit card. When the cashier went to scan the card the driver sped away westbound on Washington Street. The pre-paid debit card had no name on it and came back declined. There were no plates on the car and it was reportedly occupied by two black males.

• At 1:12 p.m. police spoke with a woman who reported a past breaking and entering to her motor vehicle. She told officers she parked her car in her driveway at 6:30 p.m. the night before. She returned at 7:30 a.m. and found Warby Parker and RayBan sunglasses missing from her car, totaling $46. She said she believed she left her car unlocked.

Friday, June 24

• Lisa Marie Asaley, 20, was arrested at 1 a.m. and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and failure to use caution when stopping. Police responded to Wolcott Street for a report of a car into a house. Police found a vehicle in the westbound lane of Wolcott Street with heavy front end damage. Police were directed to a young woman, later identified as Asaley, sitting on the curb on Rowe Street. Medics arrived and began speaking with Asaley. Police spoke to a man who stated he was approaching the stop sign at Webster Street and Rowe Street when he noticed the other car coming up from behind. Police then talked to Asaley and said a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage could be detected. Asaley was also slurring her words, appeared very unsteady on her feet and her eyes were bloodshot, according to police. Based on those observations and her tests she was placed under arrest.

• A past larceny was reported at Wegman's on Boylston Street. Security told police that a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build, came into the store three separate times carrying a red handbag and shoplifted bottles of Kettle One Vodka. On May 29, the suspect reportedly stole two bottles worth $77.98; on June 16, the suspect reportedly returned and stole one bottle worth $38.99; he reportedly came back a third time on June 24 and stole two bottles worth $77.98.

• Police responded to Mary Ellen Road for an alarm. Officers checked the doors and discovered that the back door was unlocked with no forced entry. Police entered the residence and checked all of the rooms. The homeowner arrived and requested a walk through. She told police that she did not see anything missing or out of the ordinary. Police left and returned to the home after the homeowner said she believed she found a basement window broken. The 12-inch window was open with some broken glass around it. There were also some dirt marks located in the basement back room wall, according to police. Police believe the suspect entered through the window and within one minute ran upstairs and out the back door after the alarm sounded.

• A past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle was reported on Albemarle Road. A man told police that between 1 and 11 a.m. someone entered his vehicle which was possibly unlocked due to no forced entry and no alarm sounding. A coin purse was taken. The glove compartment was also emptied and spilled out onto the seat in front of it.

• A past breaking and entering of a vehicle was reported on Schofield Drive. A woman told police her behicle was left unlocked in her driveway the previous evening. An unknown small amount of coins was missing and she told police she noticed her vehicle had been rummaged through.

• A past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle was reported on Parmenter Terrace. A woman told police that she left her vehicle unlocked in her driveway the previous evening and noticed that it had been entered sometime overnight. A pair of Gucci sunglasses and RayBan eyeglasses were reported missing.

• While investigating the breaking and entering on Parmenter Terrace, a woman told police that someone had also entered her unlocked vehicle in her driveway overnight. Missing was a Tom-Tom dashboard GPS device.

• Patricia M. Rider, 53, of Boston, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250 after an alleged shoplifting incident. Employees at the Bloomingdale's on Boylston Street told police that Rider took six items totaling $310 and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. Rider, who was in the custody of Bloomingdale's Loss Prevention, was then placed under arrest.

Saturday, June 25

• A man came into Newton Police headquarters to report a past breaking and entering of his car. He told police that he left his vehicle unlocked at his Maynard Street residence at 7 p.m. the night before. He returned to it at 10 a.m. and saw that someone had rummaged through it. Nothing was reported missing.

• A bike was reported stolen from a Centre Street residence. A man told police that around 11 p.m. the night before his neighbor witnessed two teenagers steal his Trek 3700 mountain bike out of his open garage. The man said his neighbor chased the teenagers but was unable to catch them.

• Police responded to Lexington Street after a man reported his car stolen. The man told police he just moved from Warwick, RI to Newton and parked his vehicle alongside the building, instead of his assigned number spot. When he returned to his car, he found that it was gone. He said he parked it around 7 p.m. the previous evening with the windows cracked, doors locked and a spare set of keys in the center console.
