Patch Picks: Where to Celebrate New Year's Eve in Newton
Count down to the end of 2011 with fabulous local fare -- our picks for where to celebrate New Year's Eve in Newton (and Needham).
- Celebrating its first New Year’s Eve, B Street is pulling out all the stops with their “Bash @ B Street” - a sumptuous four-course meal for $55 or $75 with preselected wine pairings. First course offerings include grilled shrimp, cheese and fruit board and Parmesan baskets filled with chicken, basil and tomatoes; second course gives you a selection of salads (some are quite exotic sounding). For your entrée, you can choose among lamb, swordfish, or a surf-and-turf filet and lobster tail combo. Finally, end your celebration meal with a pear trifle, chocolate tasting plate or lemon meringue tart. Reservations can be made by calling 617-332-8743.
- Once again, BOKX will be putting on the Ritz with their New Year’s Eve bash. Chef Jarrod Moiles will be creating a fabulous four-course, prix fixe menu for $75 - and it includes a champagne toast at midnight as well as live entertainment. Select from foie gras or salmon tartare for your appetizer and warm vegetables or arugula and fried artichokes for your salad course. Then move onto lamb tenderloin, lobster-stuffed sole, pork tenderloin or a hearty Delmonico steak for your entrée. If you still have room, enjoy a goat cheese panna cotta or a chocolate crème brulee. Reservations for dinner can be made through OpenTable.
- Chef Michael Leviton is putting forth what is sure to be an amazing, creative spread for New Year's Eve. First course selections include, among other things, a mesclun salad and scallops, to be followed by your entree choice of beef, venison, poultry and even a vegetarian option. Bring your meal to a happy ending with sorbet, crepes, a pear and almond galette or a rich chocolate souffle cake. The prix fixe meal is available for $80 ($110 with wine pairings by Lumiere's expert staff), and reservations must be made through OpenTable or by calling the restaurant.

For $65 for three courses (or $85 with wine pairings), you can choose from fried oysters, homemade crab Rangoon or shaved prosciutto to begin your dining experience. For your entrée, select either salmon, rack of lamb or scallops carbonara. Finally, bring it on home with a chocolate terrine or a sampling of sweet mini treats. – If the idea of going into Boston for First Night seems daunting, why not celebrate closer to home by going to New Year’s Needham? The party will take place all over Needham, including events at the newly renovated Town Hall. There will be a dance party at the Needham VFW, ice sculptures and light shows, music and magic- it’s a fun celebration for the whole family. Parking is always tight at NY’s Needham, so park at the high school or the library and take their convenient trolley.
