PHOTOS: Marian Ryan Hosts Summer Safety Event in Chestnut Hill

The district attorney addressed guardians on how to keep children safe during the summer.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan hosted a Summer Safety event at The Shops at Chestnut Hill as part of her campaign to educate parents, guardians and caretakers on methods of ensuring children stay safe during the summer.

As the temperatures rise, Ryan reminded the public about risks associated with the heat, including window falls, drowning and sitting too long in hot cars.

The district attorney was joined by the Newton police and fire departments, Newton City Councilor Cheryl Lappen, Newton Commissioner of Public Works Jim McGonagle, Fallon Ambulance and representatives from The Shops.

Children in attendance received the opportunity to explore emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances and police cruisers.

Free car seat installations and checks for parents and guardians were provided by Newton Police. Attendees also received educational materials on water, window and car safety.
