NEWTON, MA – Footwear company Rockport opened its global corporate headquarters in West Newton last week.

The company celebrated the move from Canton with a ribbon cutting ceremony co-headlined by Newton Mayor Setti Warren and Rockport Group President and CEO Bob Infantino. Rockport became a standalone business following its acquisition by Boston-based investment firm Berkshire Partners LLC and New Balance Holding, Inc. from the Adidas Group.

Rockport's new offices are located in a brick-and-beam building at 1220 Washington Street, with the interior designed by Boston-based architectural firm Baker Design Group. The space combines industrial-themed staircases, exposed brick, a main lounge area with a double-sided fireplace, common areas, bright windows and an open-concept cafeteria and was inspired by Rockport's New England heritage.

"We are excited to call Newton the home of The Rockport Group’s new global headquarters," Infantino said in a statement. "We were founded in Massachusetts in 1971 and are proud to continue our legacy in the greater Boston area. Our head office is a hub for our employees around the world across all three of our brands –
Rockport, Aravon and Dunham – and our heritage and commitment to the art of shoemaking is reflected in our new space."

The global headquarters houses approximately 215 employees. Members of Rockport, as well as representatives from Berkshire Partners LLC, New Balance Holdings, Inc. and the Newton Chamber of Commerce, were on hand for the ceremony last week.
