Police Log: License Charges, Whole Foods Shoplifting and a Purse Thief

Updated 10/28: Charges have been dropped against a woman arrested for shoplifting (incident listed below).
Tampering with Brae Burn pipes
According to police reports, the reported last week that someone tampered with its irrigation system sometime after the club turned on the system in April (2011). An employee of the club showed police where bolts had been removed from a pipe, allowing water from the irrigation system to leak into the ground and therefore, resulting in a higher water bill.

Shoplifting at Whole Foods
Two shoplifters were arrested in the last week at Whole Foods Markets in Newton.

A 42-year-old Newton woman was arrested at the on Sept. 7 and charged with shoplifting, reports said.
The charges against the woman were dismissed prior to her arraignment on Sept. 9, 2011.
In a separate incident, Vinicius Luiz Silva, 21, of 111 Tremont St. #402, Brighton, was arrested at the on Sept. 12 and charged with shoplifting, reports said.
Stolen bike
A man told police on Sept. 7 that he parked his Magna mountain bike in front of on Needham Street around 6:25 p.m. and shortly after, the bike was stolen.
New York man arrested after car stop
A Queens, New York man was arrested on Sept. 7 after police stopped him for driving 41 mph in a 25-mph zone near the intersection of Beacon Street and Manitoba Road, reports said.
After pulling the man over, police found he had an expired license.
Duwuan J. Johnson, 26, of 48 Hamilton St. #16, was arrested for driving without a license and also cited for speeding, reports said. Later on, Johnson was charged with providing a false name to a police officer/disguise to obstruct justice. Police found Johnson was also wanted on a warrant.
Domestic incident leads to arrest
A Newton woman was arrested on Sept. 8 after police responded to Owatonna Street for a domestic incident, reports said.
Jessica S. Brook, 43, of 87 Lewis St., was arrested for domestic assault with a dangerous weapon (glass), police said.
Dorchester man arrested on warrant
A Dorchester man was arrested by Boston Police on Sept. 10 after they found he was wanted on a warrant out of , reports said.
Leon Blount III, 18, of 1 Aspinwall Road 1M, was arrested on a warrant for breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony and larceny over $250, police said.
Rhode Island woman arrested on license charges
A Rhode Island woman was arrested on Sept. 10 after she was pulled over for allegedly not allowing pedestrians to cross in a crosswalk, reports said.
Ann Marie Dantuono, 54, of 26 Setian Lane, West Warwick, was arrested and cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and driving with a suspended license, police said.
Purse thief in Newton Centre
On Sunday (Sept. 11), a woman told police she was walking down Sumner Street in Newton Centre when someone came up behind her as she passed Gibbs Street and grabbed her purse from under her arm. The suspect did not say anything to the woman, who was walking from the Newton Centre MBTA stop.
Reports said the suspect headed toward the Newton Centre T stop after grabbing the purse.
The suspect was described as a white male, early 20s, approximately 5'8" tall with a crew cut-type hair style and wearing a grey hoodie, reports said.
Watertown man arrested after alleged domestic incident
A Watertown man was arrested on Sunday by Newton police after Watertown Police reported the man had been involved with a domestic incident in Watertown.
Masood Omari, 34, of 41 Coolidge Hill Road #1, was located on Adams Street by the police and placed under arrest. He was then transported to Watertown for booking, reports said.
Moped driver faces license charges
A Newton woman was arrested on Monday after police pulled her over for not having a properly registered scooter, reports said.
Edith Gail Vaniderstine, 59, of 540 Centre St., was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license (not renewable) and having an unregistered scooter, police said.
