Police: Man Reportedly Walks Into Back Yard, Stares at Girls in Hot Tub, Picks Up iPhone, Takes Off

The following information was supplied by the Newton Police Department:

Police responded to Grove Hill Parkway on April 3 for a report of past breaking and entering. The homeowner said that sometime between 3:30 p.m. on April 2 and 4 p.m. April 3, someone had broken into his residence. The house is under renovation and is missing an aluminum dairy crate that had been in front of the house.

On April 3, police responded to a report of an unwanted party at 19 Commonwealth Ave. The person was told to leave and wouldn’t. Officers met with the man inside of the Bank of America ATM. Running the man’s information, police found he was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in Brookline District Court. On March 31, when police had done an inventory of the man’s property, they found two Bank of America debit cards, a health care card and a ski pass. None of them belonged to him. Police called Bank of America to see if the cards were reported stolen. Both had been canceled and the owners had been notified. The man had these cards on him at the ATM. William Joseph O’Neil, 73, 47 Clifford St., Boston, was charged with receiving stolen property.

On April 4, police responded to Stanley Road for a report of a suspicious male who was hanging out in the back yard with a group of friends. A group of girls sat in the hot tub in the back yard when a man, approximately 6’0”, medium build, light hair, black Northface jacket, cargo pants, approached the hot tub and began staring at them. The man picked up a black iPhone 6 that sat there, walked away, and placed the phone on the side of the house. He motioned toward one of the girls to come toward him. The girls immediately got out of the hot tub and ran inside. The man walked around to the front door, said the report, and he said he was a veteran and left the residence. The man was last seen heading toward Oliver Street.

On April 4, police responded to a report that someone tagged a stone chimney at the park on Blake Street (Edmands Park). The reporting party brought police into the woods to the chimney, which was tagged with orange and green spray paint.
