Downed Wire Prompts Road Closure, Power Outage In Newton
Several hundred customers were without power in Newton Tuesday afternoon.

NEWTON, MA — Power is back for some 600 people after a downed high tension electrical wire turned the lights out. The downed wire also prompted police to close Commonwealth Avenue eastbound at Washington Street.
Officials warned folks just before 5 p.m. to avoid the area and expect delays, which they estimated could last about four hours.
Just after 8 p.m. Police announce the road was reopened.
