PRIMARK UNVEILS FIRST U.S. STORE IN BOSTON'S DOWNTOWN CROSSING
Leading European Fashion Retailer Opened for Business at the Iconic Burnham Building on Sept. 10

BOSTON — Primark, one of Europe’s leading fashion retailers, today opened its Downtown Crossing flagship, the brand’s first location in the Northeast, following a ribbon-cutting celebration led by Mayor Martin J. Walsh.
The store, located at the corner of Summer and Washington Streets, furthers the ongoing revitalization of the Downtown Crossing neighborhood and adds a new dimension to the newly restored Burnham Building. Primark brings a fresh option to the neighborhood for shoppers of all ages seeking womenswear, menswear, children’s clothing and homegoods, all at value-for-the-money prices.
“I’m thrilled to officially welcome Primark to Boston,” said Mayor Walsh. “Primark will bring jobs and increased economic activity for our residents and visitors, and we are grateful they chose Downtown Crossing as the site of their first Northeast location.”

“We have eagerly anticipated this day for some time and are honored to have experienced such an incredible level of support from the community and local leaders,” said Paul Marchant, chief executive officer of Primark. “We truly could not imagine a more fitting location for our first U.S. store than this neighborhood and building, which both carry such a storied retail history.”
Primark’s Downtown Crossing store spans four floors across 77,000 square foot of selling space. The open and bright space features a modern design that incorporates the historic building’s original elements, including exposed brickwork and terracotta ceilings. The spacious store is designed for optimal convenience and comfort with 73 cash registers, 84 fitting rooms, 530 mannequins and busts to encourage wardrobing. There is also a 1,000 sq. ft. trend room showcasing the latest designs immediately upon entry. The opening of this location also brings 590 new permanent jobs to the area.
