Have you ever seen a cat whose name suits him so well?! Pumpkin is a sweet heart of a guy who looks tough but is really a big pushover. He was happily rescued off the street and is enjoying all the attention he's getting here at the shelter. He's quickly become a favorite of staff and volunteers, thanks to his gentle demeanor. When anyone comes into his room to say hi, he'll chirp hello back to them. Pumpkin, who is about 2-years-old, loves petting and also loves catnip toys, which he licks! And of course he also loves food very much. :) Pumpkin has tested positive for FIV. FIV is NOT a highly contagious disease but it is transmitted through deep bite wounds from cat to cat. We're glad Pumpkin doesn't have to worry about fending for himself anymore on the street. Now he just needs a forever home!
If you are interested in meeting Pumpkin or any of the cats at The Ellen M. Gifford Cat Shelter, visit our website (www.giffordcatshelter.org). While you’re there, you can fill out an online adoption application for Pumpkin and learn more about our shelter. You can also call us at 617-787-8872. We are the oldest cageless no-kill cat shelter in the country, and we’re located right here in Brighton!
The mission of Gifford Cat Shelter is to take in homeless cats, provide them with high quality care in a cageless and no-kill environment, and find healthy and loving permanent homes for them. It was the first cageless shelter in the country and has been in existence since 1884.
