Rash Of Car Break Ins In Newton: Police Logs
There were at least seven reports of car break ins this week, and one report of a man who spotted teens going through his car.

NEWTON, MA — There were at least seven reports of car break ins this week. The following is from Newton Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. And all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Follow the Newton Patch on Facebook.
Sunday, Aug. 6
Lock Your Cars: At 4:44 p.m. someone called to report there were at least four cars broken into while they were parked in the Nahanton St, Charles River Canoe and Kayak parking lot.
Bikes Gone: A West Street resident called to report a stolen bicycle. He said he left his
Diamond Back bicycle, black/silver in color on his back porch locked onto steel bars at
approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning. And when he went back to get his bicycle this
afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. it was gone.

In a separate call, someone on Bellevue Street reported she left her Hard Rock Sport mountain bike, noticeable for its black and purple flames, against the fence in her back yard. The bike was
unlocked and someone took it.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
Car break ins continue: A Thurston Road resident called to report he'd just seen - maybe 10 minutes ago - three young men on BMX bikes trying to get into cars. He said they left toward Circuit Avenue. The man said he heard noises outside his window, and when he went to look he saw someone going through his Elandra and his neighbor's Forester. He guessed the three people he saw were teens, about 14 to 16 years old and described them as white or Hispanic. One, he said looked a little heavy set.

Wednesday, Aug. 9
Lock your cars: A Nantucket Road resident called to report someone had broken into her car and rummaged through it while it was parked in her driveway last night. She said she parked it - but did not lock it - around 5 p.m. and then around 3 a.m. her dogs started barking.
Thursday, Aug. 10
What shoplifters at the Apple store steal: Someone at the Apple Store at Chestnut Hill Mall called twice to report two thefts. The second one, happened at 5: 45 p.m. that very day: When police arrived the employee showed security footage of a stocky, Caucasian man wearing a white ball cap, blue pull over and shorts. The man entered the store from the east side of the entrance, walked around the entire store, and eventually pushed five copies of Microsoft office home business 2016 under his clothes. The video shows someone approaching the man and retrieve two copies of the software. The man then exits the store. An inventory was immediately conducted and they discovered three copies were missing.
The previous incident, according to the employee was on July 15. They described the man as a a white man about 40 years old wearing a gray jacket vest. They said he stole Microsoft software and a pair of Bose headphones.
Friday, Aug. 11
What do you need with all those bikes? A Nantucket Road resident called to report six bikes were stolen from inside his garage the night before. He told police that around 11:30 p.m. his dog started barking, but he didn't get up to see why. It appeared someone came in by the side door that was inadvertently left open. The six bikes were hanging from bike hooks from the garage ceiling, were pulled off the hooks and stolen.
That's not what bumpers are for: Someone called to report that while she was parked on Oxford Road, someone removed a piece from her bumper and had made a puncture in her bumper.
