Road Rage Incident, Man Knocks Glasses Off Disabled Person's Face: Newton Police
Plus, a hair salon worker is charged for allegedly breaking into a nearby parking lot, with his apron still on.
NEWTON, MA - The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Incidents, Nov. 13
- Police responded to 1199 Centre St. (CVS) for a report of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle. The suspect was a white male, 5â8â, wearing all black. They said he was last seen running down Pelham Street, where he hid in some bushes. When police arrived, they searched Pelham Street with negative results. The woman said she walked out of the CVS to go to her car, which was parking in the municipal lot, behind the building. As she approached the vehicle, she noticed her passenger door was open, and there was a man leaning into the car. The man exited the vehicle and began running in the opposite direction. The woman chased the male southbound to Pelham Street, where he turned westbound and ran to the end of the street and hid in the bushes. He was described as a tan male with curly black hair, about 5â8â and slender, wearing all black including an apron. She stated she was familiar with the male, who she identified as âDanny,â who worked at Kenneth Wildes Hair Salon. She didnât know if anything was missing from the car. She said it is possible there was loose change. It was unlocked. The sergeant went to the hair salon trying to find him. He was met there by Jose Danny Baez. Baez said he was at the municipal lot, but he was only there to check a parking mater on a co-workerâs car. Baez is a hispanic male, 5â11â and thin. He was dressed in all black and had an apron on. He had dirt on his pants and fresh scratches on his shoes. The witness said she was 100 percent sure Baez was the person in her car. Jose Danny Baez, 31, 17 Fruit St., Ashland, was arrest d and charged with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
- Police responded to Centre Street at Church Street for a road rage incident. The reporting party said he was assaulted by another driver who fled the area. He provided a description of a vehicle as a light colored Jeep. The reporting party was visibly upset and said the vehicle had been traveling behind him, tailgating him. He pulled over to let the car pass when the driver got out of his vehicle and approached his car. He said the driver of the other vehicle opened the door to his and was screaming at him. He struck him on the face with an open hand. The strike resulted in his glasses being knocked off his face. The suspect returned to his car and left. He was identified (30 year old male from Newton) and will be charged with assault and battery on a disable person.
