Route 9 Accident in Newton: Driver Arrested
Police say the driver of an SUV that rolled over this morning was driving with a suspended license.

A Fitchburg man was taken into custody this morning after an early-morning accident on Route 9 outside of Newton.
James Copeland, 55, was arrested and charged after officers learned he was driving with a suspended license, according to Massachusetts State Police. Copeland rolled over his SUV going eastbound, knocking over a telephone pole and electrical wires.
The accident, which occurred at 5:22 a.m., caused one lane closure and severe delays. The lane was reopened at 6:18 a.m. Massachusetts State Police reported no injuries or fatalities.

Copeland has also been cited with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and a marked lanes violation in relation to the crash.
