Runaway Riley Found Safe on Mass. Pike By Newton PD
Newton police got this pooch, who escaped at a rest stop on Route 128 on the way home to CT, back home to his family.

It was a harrowing 24 hours for Rileyâs family, and Riley, too.
This pooch ran on Aug. 14 from a rest stop on Route 128 in Newton (the Route 16, Wellesley, exit). While the family knew Riley made it through the woods to a nearby golf course after getting calls, he disappeared from that area, too.

According to Missing Dogs Massachusetts, the next sighting came from a driver who saw Riley in the breakdown lane of the Mass. Pike in Newton. Newton police responded, and Detective Nils Anderson followed along the fence where Riley had been spotted until he found an opening, finding Riley on the other side. He was able to secure the pup on a residential street on the other side of the fence.
Missing Dogs Massachusetts sends out a huge âthank youâ to Det. Anderson as well as Newton dispatcher Julie Kelly, âwho gave up their Sunday to make sure this familyâs vacation ended on a happy note. â
