NEWTON, MA - Newton was awarded $50,000 in the form of a state grant to help fund the police department, the governor’s office announced Monday.
The Governor Charlie Baker-Lt. Governor Karyn Polito administration awarded over $4 million to 15 police and fire departments over 10 communities, including Somerville, Malden, Lynn, Lowell, Lawrence, Framingham, Haverhill, Brockton, and Fall River.
“Communities across the Commonwealth should feel confident that their police and fire are staffed adequately to do their job whenever the call for help comes in,” said Baker in a statement. “These resources will support our municipalities and first responders in keeping their communities safe.”
