State Police Identify Victim Of Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Newton

NEWTON, MA — Massachusetts State Police have identified the motorcyclist who died in a head-on crash in Newton Thursday.

Emergency crews responded to the crash on the ramp from Route 128 to Route 90 around 3:45 p.m. and found Ben Vinson, 46, of Billerica suffering from serious injuries.

Police say Vinson succumbed to his injuries shortly after the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Vinson was traveling from Route 90 to Route 128 northbound and a box truck was traveling on the ramp from Route 128 northbound to Route 90.

As the vehicles were approaching each other from opposite directions, Vinson lost control of his motorcycle and crossed over the median into the oncoming lane, striking the box truck head-on, said police.

The operator of the box truck, a 54-year-old man from Framingham, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
