Stolen Wedding Ring, Bobcat Doors: Newton Police

NEWTON, MA - The following are excerpts from the Newton police log.

Dec. 1

  • Police were dispatched to Avalon Road for a report of two stolen rings. She said on Nov. 3 her white gold wedding band with two sapphires and two diamonds and her white gold engagement ring with a single diamond with baguettes on either side were stolen from her headboard shelf on her bed. She left her home that day at 9:20 a.m. and returned at 12:30 p.m. and immediately noticed they were gone.
  • Police responded to 225 Boylston St. (Bloomingdales) for a shoplifting incident. Loss prevention had one adult female detained. Loss prevention stated that they had surveillance of an adult female, later identified, taking $380 worth of bracelets. A no trespass order was issued. Mary Elizabeth Hughes, 51, 22 Greenwood Road, Canton, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by concealing.
  • Police stopped at the intersection of Langley Road and Beacon Street, and observed a black Lexus drive through the intersection, the vehicle late in entering the intersection and the light had just turned red. The car then drove over the crosswalk on Beacon Street where three people were standing trying to cross Beacon Street. After the light had turned red, the Lexus continued through the crosswalk without stopping for the pedestrians who were trying to cross. A routine check of the Lexus’s license plate showed that the owner had a default warrant out of Natick District Court. Tabata Janelle Esson, 31, 11 Guild Road, Needham, was arrested.
  • Police were notified that a probation warrant had been issued for Simon Ziezel, 716 Commonwealth Ave., Newton. Officers responded to 716 Commonwealth Ave. Simon Phillip Zeizel, 25, was arrested.
  • Police were dispatched to Beacon Street for a report of stolen construction equipment at a site where workers were performing work on water and sewer connections. The reporting person said he performed work at the site the prior day. He secured his equipment to the machines before leaving. In the morning he noticed parts missing off two Bobcat machines. Stolen off his Bobcat E45 excavator was the lower glass panel from the front door, the radiator cover panel and the radio antenna. Missing off the Bobcat S150 skid steer is the front door with glass panel. The back up alarm was disconnected but was not taken.
