Teenage Party Broken Up, One Arrest; Man Shreds Tire, Arrested for OUI :Newton Police

NEWTON, MA - The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Nov. 14
- At 3:03 a.m., police were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident near Crafts Street and Watertown Street. When police arrived, they saw a red Subaru Forester pulled over alongside the curb on Crafts Street. The front passengerâs side was completely shredded to the rim, and there appeared to be damage to the wheel, as if it was driven on for an extended period of time. Outside of the vehicle was a male who identified himself as the driver. He was unsteady on his feet, and asked if he was injured, to which he replied, âno.â Police detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Brent T. McGinn, 24, 98 Brookley Road, Boston, was arrested and charged with marked lanes violation, OUI (liquor).

- Police were dispatched to Salisbury Road for a report of a loud party. When police arrived, they saw several youths fleeing from the residence. Police headed to the side door, where they saw several youths gathered in the kitchen drinking cans of beer. They knocked on the door, and the teens fled to the basement of the split level residence. Police are requesting a hearing at Waltham Juvenile Court for a Newton male, 17.
- Police responded to Pickwick Road for a past breaking and entering into a motor vehicle. Sometime on the previous evening, someone entered the residentâs unlocked car and stole numerous items. Missing is a round beaded loose change purse that is green with a pink flower on it. It had about $2 in change, a Garmin GPS valued at $250, Rayban sunglasses valued at $140, gold Aviation sunglasses valued at $100, Native sunglasses valued at $150, an orange Clinique makeup bag, a plaid pouch with a tire gauge and pens and another pair of black sunglasses.
