Things Get A Little Batty At Wednesday's Newton Council Meeting

It was one of the more exciting Wednesday night City Council Meetings.

NEWTON, MA — On Monday things got a little, ahem, batty, at the Newton City Council meeting. As the Committee of the Whole was meeting, Councilor-at-Large Gregory Schwartz of Ward 6 was in the middle of making a point when got interrupted.

Thankfully, NewTV was there and filming. They pulled the camera back and you can see a bat circling the councilor chambers. Councilors and City Hall staff scramble to open windows to see if they can help the bat get out. One person can be heard saying "that poor baby."

A little later, the bat swoops lower, some folks scream as it gets a liiiitle too close for comfort. With that, someone called for recess.
