Police say many are expected to attend the service for the longest-serving state auditor, and there will be heavy traffic this morning.

NEWTON, MA – Drivers traveling through Newton will hit heavy traffic this morning due to Joe DeNucci's memorial service, police say. The service will impact traffic between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the area of Washington and Adams streets.

DeNucci, a boxer-turned-politician who became the longest-serving state auditor in Massachusetts history, died Friday at 78.

The Democrat had a successful boxing career before turning to politics, first serving as a state representative and later as the state auditor for 24 years.
