Traffic Lights On Washington St. Are Back After 9-Hour Outage
The traffic lights on Washington Street in Newton were out for some nine hours Friday.

NEWTON, MA— Police were directing traffic from about 10:30 a.m. til about 7 p.m. on Washington Street, after an outage in the area. Eversouce had crews out working to repair the problem. And about 7 p.m. the lights were back on.
Earlier in the morning, Eversource tweeted to folks in West Newton that they expected power to be restored around 1 p.m. But it wasn't until around 7 p.m. the traffic lights came back to life.
By 8 p.m. only one customer in Newton was still without power, according to Eversource.

The company said damage to their equipment caused the outage, but they did not clarify what that exactly meant.
We show a large portion of the Newton outage was just restored moments ago, the remaining customers without power should be restored by 1:00pm.
