Traffic Nightmare at Wellesley-Newton Line: Crash Causes 6-Hour Delay

A box truck was upended over a median during a crash on Route 128 in Wellesley Tuesday afternoon, causing nightmarish traffic delays.

The crash involved at least one other vehicle on the northbound side of the highway near Route 9 at about 3:30 p.m. No one was hurt, police said.

Two lanes of traffic were closed. State Police said one lane of the highway will be closed for up to six hours so crews can clean up the scene.

At 4 p.m., Route 9 east was backed up beyond Cedar Street.

“This backup is expected to get larger,” Wellesley police said in a statement.
