TripAdvisor Moving to Needham Later Year; May Expand Again
TripAdvisor, now headquartered in Newton, is moving to Needham this year to a much larger headquarters. That could grow even bigger.

Based in Newton, the travel website TripAdvisor is moving its headquarters to Needham this year, and is reportedly going to expand even bigger than originally planned.
Set to open in mid-2015, the 282,000 square-foot campus will more than double the size of the company’s current space in Newton, said a press release. The office headquarters will allow for the hiring of 1,500 employees, including 400 new hires across engineering, product management, marketing, and sales.

TripAdvisor is currently headquartered at 141 Needham St. in Newton. The sites operate in 45 countries worldwide, including China under daodao.com.
The Boston Business Journal reports that TripAdvisor will have the option of expanding even further after opening; in the next few years, it could grow to 440,000 square feet, which could add another 1,000 employees.

Now a 13-acre park, TripAdvisor’s building developers plan to expand it to a 41-acre “super park.”
TripAdvisor broke ground on its new global headquarters in Needham in Nov. of 2013 with Normandy Real Estate Partners.
“We’re very excited about returning to our Needham roots where TripAdvisor got its start 13 years ago,” said Steve Kaufer, CEO and co-founder of TripAdvisor, in the release. “Our remarkable size and scale is a true testament to the hard work of our dedicated employees and we’re thrilled to create a state-of-the-art campus that will help foster innovation as we continue to grow globally.”
