Police arrested a man who allegedly drove away from an accident - without a tire. And other police logs.

NEWTON, MA — Here's a sample of the types of calls the Newton Police Department respond to each day. The following include details chosen by the Newton Police and sent to the Patch. Arrests do not imply conviction.

Friday, Nov. 24

Car break in, window smashed: Police responded to Woodman Rd for a report of a car break in. A Woodman Road resident said when she got to her car she found her front passenger's window was smashed and her purse and wallet were missing.

Break in: Someone on Pine Grove Avenue reported a break in around 3:51 p.m.

Suspicious? Someone called police to tell them there was a suspicious person near the corner of Brewster Road and Mayflower Terrace.

Bitten: Someone reported a dog bite at Edmands Park on Blake Street.

Saturday, Nov. 25

Shhh: Police got two calls about a loud party, one at 1:09 a.m. on Greylock Road, and then at 1:20 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Washington Street.

Car fire: Police responded to a report of a car fire at the Elks Hall on Centre Street around 5:50 a.m.

Alarms: Police responded to 14 reports of burglary alarms going off.

Sunday, Nov. 26

Sparky: Someone reported there was a black pickup truck driving near the corner of Lowell Ave and Page Road that was missing a wheel and sparks were coming from the car as it drove. Moments after someone reported this someone flagged down and police officer to tell them that two cars had been hit by a black pickup truck and it left a wheel behind. The officer, a Sgt was the first to arrive on scene and saw a Black Chevrolet Silverado on the side of the road missing a front tire and an individual, later identified as Miguel Garcia seated in the driver's seat... Police arrested Miguel Antonio Garcia, 56, of Waltham for drunk driving and leaving the scene of property damage and for reckless driving.

Bitten: Someone reported a dog bite on Circuit Ave at 10:08 a.m.

Illegal: Someone reported someone was illegally dumping something on Waverly Ave.

Vandal: Police responded to a report of vandalism on Andrew Street.

Monday, Nov. 27

Car break in at the mall: A woman called police to report her car was broken into between 20:00 hours and 21:30 hours while she was parked at Bloomingdales at the mall at 225 Boylston St. Her vehicle was located the lower level of the parking garage.

Shoplifting: Someone reported a shoplifter at Wegmans in the morning. Then, a little later in the day there was a report of a larceny at Dunkin Donuts on Washington Street.

Unleashed: Someone called to report an unleashed animal somewhere in the area of 1124 Boylston Street.

Tuesday, Nov. 28

Warrant Arrest: Police arrested James Frank Herr, 26, of Brockton after they saw a Dodge blow through a red light at the intersection of California Street and Nevada Street. The car caused a pedestrian to stop short in a crosswalk during a cross signal to avoid being hit by this car. When police pulled the car over a routine query of Herr showed his licence was suspended, and he also had a Straight warrant out of Plymouth Superior
Court.

Hit and run: Someone reported there was a hit and run near the corner of Broadlawn Park and Lagrange Street around 6:49 p.m. This is unclear if it's related to the arrest above.

Stealing: Someone reported a larceny at M&D Liquors around 11: 12 a.m. and then there was a larceny reported at Sharon Avenue at 1: 3o p.m.
