VIDEO/PHOTOS: Newton Community Honors Mayor Mann at Annual Prayer Breakfast
Local elected officials and community members gathered Wednesday for the annual Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast at Boston College and to pay tribute to former Newton Mayor Ted Mann. Mayor Setti Warren officially renamed the breakfast in Mann's honor.
"With a passion, determination and twinkle in his eye, and a great sense of humor, Mayor Ted Mann changed the face of Newton for the better and cemented our community as one of the best places to live in the world."
Mayor Setti Warren stood alongside Boston Mayor Tom Menino, Boys & Girls Club of Boston CEO Josh Kraft as well as a number of other local elected officials and community members to honor former Mayor Ted Mann at the Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast held Wed., May 23, 2012.
Warren renamed the breakfast in honor of Mayor Mann, who started the tradition nearly 40 years ago. A video tribute, produced by , was played during the breakfast and featured interviews with city officials and former mayors Tom Concannon and David Cohen.

In addition to Warren, Menino and Kraft, the breakfast included remarks from a number of local religious leaders, music from the Jazz Band and a closing performance from 's The LoveTones.
A number of awards were also given out during the morning's events; received the Mayor Mann Community Service Award and three local students were honored with Newton Rotary & Avalon Community Scholarships:
