Wanted: Recipes for Cookbook Raising Money for Hellenic Cardiac Fund

Katerina Iliades, whose family owns Farm Grill Rotisserie in Newton, is creating a recipe cookbook with funds going to the Hellenic Cardiac Fund. Do you have a recipe you'd like to share with the world?

heiress Katerina Iliades knows how important the Hellenic Cardiac Fund is to Children's Hospital. As a patient in 2003, she saw firsthand of the important work the hospital does, which is why her new recipe cookbook, "Cooking from the Heart for the Heart” - will raise funds for the Hellenic Cardiac Fund.

But first Iliades needs recipes for the cookbook, and they certainly do not need to be Greek recipes.

"Any traditional family recipe that you think someone would enjoy," said Iliades. "It’s a great chance to have a family recipe you’ve kept to be published."

And if you know the Iliades family you know they own the Farm Grill Rotisserie restaurant in Newton. Savvas, Katerina's father has been asked for years to publish his recipes.

"My dad has been a chef for his entire life and honestly he can take any two ingredients and make a work of art," smiled Katerina. "And everyone’s been asking him for his recipes all these years, although he’s been giving them out, he’s never actually published anything. So I thought this would be a good opportunity for him because he always talks about how much passion and love go into cooking. I thought it would be a good opportunity to bring my father and my customers together to compile a recipe book, to raise awareness and money for the Hellenic Cardiac Fund."

The book is a part of Iliades' graduate studies at Babson College, too, and she recently spoke about the book on the Grecian Echoes radio program.

"I’ve been volunteering for the Hellenic Cardiac Fund since 2003. I was a patient at Children’s Hospital. I fractured my back in high school from dancing. I was a ballerina," said Iliades in an exclusive interview with West Roxbury Patch.

Iliades has created a blog website about the cookbook, her work and people can upload recipes directly to the blog here. People can also mail them to the Greek International Market at 5204 Washington St., West Roxbury, MA 02132, or bring them into the market.

Iliades said there has been a very good response, "So far a lot of family and friends have submitted recipes. Customers have showed a lot of interest. I want 50 recipes in 100 days for the book. The deadline is April 30. My goal is set at 50 recipes, but I'm anticipating having more than 50."

Iliades explained why the Hellenic Cardiac Fund means so much to her, "The Hellenic Cardiac Fund brings kids form Greece and around the world with heart problems and other chornic health conditions, who don’t have the financial ability to pay for medical care to Children's Hospital."

Some of the recipes submitted already include a truffle lobster risotto and roasted lamb with potatoes. Submit your recipe here.
